It’s been a brutal journey, six months in hell.

The ship is creaking, the mast is cracked,

Our precious cargo, has all turned black.

We sailed a lonely patch, three weeks with thirst.

But I, just left Bermuda, and I’m bound for Cape Horn.

Your baby boy was born at 8 o’clock last night.

Her ladyship ship had me back on shift come first light.

Off Cape Horn.

Clasping a rosary, threaded in her hand.

Her Ladyship is indisposed, she’s got the day off.

They said he’d not returned, his ship was docked at Lea.
